Message the oil to resist thinning out when it gets hot, and to create that multi-weight oil. I'd guess the Nissan engineers thought that when the these viscosity modifiers wear out from repeated shearing, the oil would be too thin. This is not a problem with synthetic oils. I use a M1 0W-40, like the oil Nissan recommends for its latest twin turbo.
